Spectrum LW-ASA UltraFoam is a revolutionary material specifically engineered for the RC aviation and aerospace industries. Leveraging UltraFoam technology, this filament undergoes an active foaming process when triggered by high nozzle temperatures, allowing you to print parts that are up to half the weight of standard ASA or ABS.
In addition to its ultra-lightweight properties, LW-ASA inherits the legendary durability of ASA, providing exceptional resistance to UV radiation and weathering. This makes it the ultimate choice for outdoor functional models that require structural rigidity without the aerodynamic penalty of heavy plastics.
Foaming occurs when the nozzle temperature exceeds 230°C. By increasing the temperature and decreasing the flow rate (extrusion multiplier) to 50-60%, you can produce parts that maintain their volume while dramatically reducing their density. This creates a fine-pored matte surface that is easily sandable and paintable.
